Brent McKay, RN, BScN, Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Brent is a registered forensic nurse and psychotherapist with over 10 years of experience working in acute psychiatry, community mental health, forensic, and correctional psychiatry. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Honours) at Laurentian University and holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (Honours) from Yorkville University. Brent has also served as a clinical instructor in mental health nursing at St. Lawrence College.

Brent's professional journey began in the healthcare sector, where he worked extensively with individuals facing severe mental illness, trauma, addictions, and major life adversities. His dedication to mental health led him to specialize in psychotherapy, where he emphasizes the importance of the therapeutic alliance. Brent's approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Adlerian psychotherapy, mindfulness, psychodynamic methods, EMDR, IFS, and person-centred techniques. He is committed to helping his clients recognize destructive patterns, build on their strengths, and find the courage to persist through challenges.

In his practice, Brent provides psychological services to adults dealing with a range of issues, including anxiety, depression, grief, addiction, anger management, self-esteem, trauma, relationship difficulties, and stress.
